Autism Awareness Month is here. There are many organizations that do great work to promote understanding, help families navigate this adventure known as Autism. I would like to give props to our friends at TACA (Talk About Curing Autism). They offer a wide array of support, information, resources, and events to assist those affected by the Autism Community. Go to their website at www.tacanow.org if you need help, want to help, or would like to find out more about Autism. As a mom of a boy on the spectrum I can say that the TACA website has provided information and parental support in many ways to our family.
Autism Facebook Page for Siblings: There is a fun and sweet Facebook Page called “Autism with Ian and Kyle” posted by big sister with two adult brothers on the Autism Spectrum. Lauren is the big sister and is happy to answer questions and shares her perspective as a sibling.
“Chag Sameach” to our many friends and families who are celebrating Passover. Speaking of Passover, I would love to express my joy in the upcoming May wedding of Chipper and Shaggy who met while working at camp. Their connection and love for each other grew by their mutual love of being on the Parking Crew at camp, wearing orange vests and cone-head hats. Shaggy will be with us part time this summer as he prepares to become Rabbi Shaggy and Chipper will be here again working with us leading our outstanding team of Specialists with their activity plans.
Egg-citing Stuff:
Saturday April 19th we have two Camp James Teams out in the community.
NEWPORT DUNES EGG HUNT: Come by and visit Bubbles and Glimmer who will be showing their camp spirit at the Dunes egg hunt (accross the lagoon from camp near the Music gazebo). They will be at the booth from 8-10 a.m. (egg hunt starts at 9) Wear your camp shirt and check in with Bubbles and win a special prize!
HUNTINGTON BEACH EGG HUNT AND FAMILY FUN DAY (9 a.m. to 3 p.m.) : See Traveler and Dot at the Camp James booth and get yourself a Free High Five (and other game prizes)! There are staggered egg hunts see their website for details. Located at the HB Sports Complex on 18100 Goldenwest – Wear your Camp James shirt and see Dot or Traveler to win a special prize!
